Apollo & Mercury Ltd. traces its origins back to May 1986, when it was founded as a circle of friends and like-minded professionals. The company is engaged in the attribution of works of art, the organization of auctions and exhibitions, restoration and conservation, as well as art valuation and professional consultancy.

A&M operates its own gallery, which functions on a private, appointment-only basis.

On 8 November 2001, A&M opened an Art Salon and Auction House in Sofia at 87 Evlogi Georgiev Blvd., which operated until 8 November 2004.

In 2002, A&M published a monograph dedicated to the artist Pavel Krastev.

In 2003, the company published the book “The Myth of Dimitar Kazakov – Neron”, authored by Prof. Aksiniya Dzhurova. проф. Аксиния Джурова през 2003г.

A&M offers works by leading modern Bulgarian artists, including (in alphabetical order): Boyko Kolev, Dimitar Kazakov, Dimitar Buyukliyski, Edmond Demirdzhiyan, Emil Stoychev, Genko Genkov, Gredi Assa, Hristo Yotov, Nikolay Aleksiev, Nikola Manev, Vasil Ivanov, and others.

From classical Bulgarian artists, A&M offers works by (in alphabetical order): Anton Mitov, Bencho Obreshkov, David Peretz, Iliya Petrov, Ivan (Jan Václav) Mrkvička, Jaroslav Věšín, Nikola Boyadzhiev, Vasil Stoilov, Vladimir Dimitrov – The Master, Zlatyu Boyadzhiev, and others.

Upon request, A&M issues certificates.

A&M maintains professional relationships with selected Western European dealers and galleries and acts as a consultant upon request in matters related to Bulgarian fine art.

The company Apollo & Mercury Ltd. was officially registered as a Limited Liability Company in 1995, with Dimitar Fitsov and Igor Markovski as its founding partners.

 

Dimitar Fitsov

(Born 02 October 1950) Dimitar Fitsov graduated from the National Academy of Arts in 1978, majoring in Sculpture, under Prof. Velichko Minekov. He has taught Theory and Methodology of Fine Arts at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and at the University of Blagoevgrad. Between 1993 and 1994, he served as Manager of the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA) under a private contractual agreement. During this period, he organized some of the largest exhibitions, covering 800 sq. m on the first floor of 6 Shipka Street, Sofia. He is the creator of the first ranking of contemporary Bulgarian visual artists, “Artist of the Month”, published in the newspaper HiLife in 1991. Dimitar Fitsov is the author of numerous publications in periodicals on art sociology, eroticism in art, art criminology, and related topics. As an art dealer and collector, he has been active since 1978, when he participated in the exhibition “The Artist at Work in America”, organized under the American Cultural Program. He is recognized as one of the key experts and contributors to the development of the Bulgarian art market after the 1980s. He is fluent in English.

Igor Markovski

(Born 25 May 1963) Igor Markovski graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov” (NATFA) in 1984, majoring in Acting, under Prof. Sasho Stoyanov. In 1998, he also completed studies at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) and the Higher School of Management and Administration, qualifying as a Specialist in Media Economics. He worked as an actor in Targovishte and at the “Salsa i Smyah” Theatre until 1991. From the autumn of 1992 until 1999, he worked with Voice of America – Europe (Radio Vitosha). Igor Markovski is a co-founder and editor of the newspaper HiLife and has been an author and host of television programs and entertainment shows. He has served as manager of the artists Edmond Demirdzhiyan and Ivan Yahnadzhiev and is the author of numerous publications in the periodical press related to exhibitions between 1991 and 1995. Since 1990, he has established professional connections with international galleries and has been actively involved in promoting and offering works by Bulgarian artists abroad, including via the Internet. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, the Union of Bulgarian Actors, the Bulgarian Delphic Committee, the Venko Markovski Foundation, the Edmond Demirdzhiyan Foundation, and is the founder of the Apollo & Mercury Foundation and the Free Artistic Union (FAU), among others.
